About us

what is a bid?

A BID is an independent, business-led, not for profit organisation providing additional services and improvements in a defined area of a town.  BIDs are independent from Local Authorities and act as a single, strong voice to influence councils, landlords and potential investors.

a bid for leatherhead

Following a successful ballot, Leatherhead BID's 5 year term started on 1st January 2026.  Towards the end of this term, businesses will decide whether to re-ballot, in order to continue Leatherhead BID to a second term.

The BID Levy Area

There are 230 businesses within the defined BID area that are eligible (shown opposite) pay a small levy fee proportionate to their rateable value to fund BID activities.

A Voice for Leatherhead Businesses

Leatherhead BID is run by a business-led board of Directors, selected from the sectors best represented in the town. Scroll down to meet our Board.

Transform Leatherhead

Leatherhead BID Ltd and it's Board are totally independent of and unconnected to 'Transform Leatherhead' or the Leret Partnership. The BID Board are in contact with the Leret Partnership and will work with them to promote the best outcomes for Leatherhead's future.

neighbouring BIDS

There are over 330 active BIDs operating in the UK, with nearly 90% deciding to renew their local BID after their first 5-year BID period.

Most of Leatherhead’s nearby towns already benefiting from their own local BIDs including Cobham, Dorking and  Epsom with many more under development.

OUR BoaRD

The Leatherhead BID Board started off as a small group of people with a passion for Leatherhead, who wanted to see something solid and positive happen to the town. They formed an informal steering group to support the feasibility stage of the BID development and formed a fully constituted Shadow BID Board for Leatherhead BID Ltd. Set up as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, to take the idea of a BID to a fully approved and funded 5-year BID. They are now operating as a transition Board as the BID period starts.
